Blogging advice to be a better Blogger

By

You have set up your blog and added the adsense program to it so now you are just waiting for the traffic to come through and the dollars to start adding up in your adsense account. You keep on writing posts, but nothing happens, no traffic and no figures in your adsense account. Eventually you get despondent and abandon your blog or you might even delete it completely.

Blogging is a good way to make money, but it all depends about how you go about it.

So how do you make your blog successful? What do you write about? What you did last year, what you got up to with your family on your last vacation.

People say you should write about your passions. This is true to a certain degree, but learning by experience is the reason how most writers become such successful bloggers.

I know a lot about food and love writing about it. People like reading about it so I was getting blog traffic, but it definitely doesn’t pay.I definitely could have used some blogging advice there.

Anyone will tell when giving advice on how to blog that it is vital to check your keywords.

Have a look at the some of the highest paying keywords and if you know a lot about the subject you could do well for yourself. Another point to remember before you start typing away is the competition factor. If you can make a niche out of one of the keywords you will be a lot safer.

To check this type your keyword in Google search and see how many results Google comes up with. If it is somewhere around 2 million you should narrow it down quite a bit. Once you have your keyword use the Google keyword tool and use the CPC column to check how much your keyword is worth. Make sure you have the right balance.

So do you write about something you love or would you write about a topic that makes money, such as search engine optimization. You may be giving your readers misleading information with something you don't know much about.

It's always possible to find a niche that pays well. Bear in mind that a blog also takes time to build up, using sources that you would use to get traffic to any site. This could be using google backlinks, using other sites to create links, article directories etc. The best blogging advice I got was to create links in the form of articles to your posts. Hard work will pay off in the long run.

Find a niche to blog about

Any good blogging advice blog will tell you that it is important to find a particular niche.

It's difficult to find just the right thing to write about. You have to choose something that has a long shelf life and you won't run out of ideas. It's also easier if you enjoy writing about the subject. Choosing something you know about will be a lot easier because you won't have to do a whole lot of of research every time you have to write a new post.

There are few niches that have been successful and people enjoy reading about.

Your hobby

A lot of people will more than likely share the same interest that you have. The fact that you know about it and have a passion for it makes it a lot easier

Technology

A lot of traffic is driven to blogs that talk about technology and the latest gadgets that are available. People are always looking for reviews and the best deals.

Kids

People with children always have their kids as one of the main topics of conversation. People are always looking for ideas, discussions and solving problems to do with their children. A lot of people blog about their children in the form of a diary, called Mommyblogging.

Health

This is a big topic, especially now with more health issues arising all the time. People are always looking for information. You can write about a certain illness, an eating disorder with recipes or aim for children's health. There are lots of avenues to go down for this niche.

How to

This could consist of various DIY posts which are very popular at the moment. People love this sort of thing and it brings in a lot of traffic.

Blogging Advice and Tips to better Blogging

There is lots more advice about blogging and there are special sites dedicated to it. Here are just a few tips.

  • Write with enthusiasm, showing the reader your posts are for them and not about you
  • Learn to capture the reader’s attention, write interesting and relevant posts. Content is so important.
  • Make sure your blog looks good, the text should be separated in to paragraphs and easy to read and it’s a good idea to write it on a word processor first, making sure there are no grammatical errors.
  • Include images and possibly a video. Make your blog eye-catching
  • Keep on reading blogs by others and those that have been around for a long time
  • Look for new keywords and backlinks and comment on other blogs
  • Your titles are important. They describe the whole post and will capture the reader’s attention. They should also contain a keyword or two.
  • Use social bookmarks, forums and of course twitter and facebook is always useful.
  • Keep on improving on your blog. Work on older posts. Add new functions, giving it more variety and making it more attractive.

When you are no longer enjoying blogging I wouldn’t think it’s worth it. You should be having fun!

I voted this up and as useful. It was interesting to read about the way to use keywords in the blog.

I enjoy writing for my blogs and it is a change to writing an article for HubPages. I can use a different writing style and enjoy being able to add short updates. I have to admit on the money making front, it is only in the last week that I have had a small result.

I like the freedom of designing the blog especially the way I can alter the colours and layout to suit my own style. Thank you for this article.
