Contemporary Wall Art Ideas

You either like contemporary wall art or you don’t. It has a style of its own. If you enjoy something different then this will definitely be your cup of tea, but if you are into the more traditional approach of wall art then you might want to stick with photo wall art, which also looks really good.

When looking at some contemporary wall art ideas you may be thinking that the project would have taken hours to create and you would have to specialize a great deal before taking on something like this, but that is certainly not the case. Some contemporary wall can be created in less than an hour and some projects only require you to spend under $20 making it a worthwhile piece of art to stick on your wall.

Cheap contemporary wall art

There are a number of projects that you can make just by using Styrofoam and adding scrapbook paper to stick on top. Arrange about two or three rows of these down each way forming a square. Most people use two different colors and patterns. You can arrange a group of Styrofoam discs of different shapes and colors to form a collage. Paint or spray paint them and glue them together.

Contemporary metal wall art

Some wall art can still be kept on the budget by making it look like metal. This you would achieve with metallic spray paints and other paints which are especially designed for the this purpose. A collage of Styrofoam which is covered in scrapbook paper looks good if you add wooden strips that you have spray painted. Mixed mediums always work well in contemporary wall art. You can also buy metallic discs and rods joining them up in an artistic manner.

Contemporary kitchen wall art ideas

For a lot of people the kitchen would be a place where you would be spending a lot of time so wall art for the kitchen is a must. Therefore you should be looking for something that would provide a personal touch.

Here you could use different prints on styrofoarm or you could use place them in bright frames. This would depend on your style of decor. There are different sorts of coffee art that are quite appealing. A lot of people use prints of brightly colored fruit or vegetables  to create an atmosphere. Black and white wall art is also a main feature here.

Contemporary stylish wall clocks matching your decor are also a nice feature.

Contemporary wall art sculptures

Contemporary wall art ideas in the form of sculptures can be an awesome sight to look at, but some projects require a little more handiwork than others. If you are good with shaping wood and steel this will help you otherwise you will have to spend some money. Usually one would use a particular theme. You paint a few vibrant colors on a steel base and take it to for someone to split it into three equal parts. Some people like to add a collection of mosaics to their walls. Another idea is to buy a couple of wooden squares and rectangles. On here you can paint designs of your choice. You can even mix it with another medium adding a few metal strips in between.

I also like to suggest using sponges cut into different shapes and adhered to a board like thin plywood. We would spray paint the plywood sometimes in a multitude of colors and then do abstracts or different theme scenes with the shaped sponges gluing them on and painting them. Sometimes glitters, beads, pastas, etc would be added. We then sprayed the finihed product with a spry varnish. Kids loved this activity.
