How to teach English online

How many times do you hear one of your friends going overseas on holiday, for a business trip or maybe even a mission trip. If it is an English-speaking country they are traveling to that is all well and good, but how many Europeans are anti-English or simply don’t understand the language.

This is why it’s not essential to be a qualified teacher because it’s more practical than anything else. People will know the student is English-speaking so a mistake here or there will not be the end of the world.

Students will prefer someone who is from the country they are going to. It’s a relaxed set up, not that of a university nature.

This doesn’t cost a lot to set up. You can even start it up in a spare room working from home. You can build it up slowly with one student at a time and then work on groups. You will have to see what works best for you.

Once you have gained some confidence teaching the basics to people who want to go jet-setting around the world or to foreigners entering the country that you are able to teach a little English to then the world is your oyster.

There is a great demand for teachers abroad, especially in places like China, Thailand and other parts of Asia, which are also beautiful for travel. There are more than 1 billion people who are learning English in the world. People will pay you well and it will be a good break from your daily routine.

You might have to complete a TEFL (Teach English as a foreign language) course before you head off, which would be more than worth your while.

It’s good to mix in with a community of people who are in the same situation as yourself and they provide you with a network of jobs right across the globe. You will not only be earning a living, but you will be experiencing things you haven’t seen before as well as meeting new people and cultures along the way. Teaching can be one of the most rewarding experiences that you will find.
